Get ready for a fun day of fishing with the family at the Great Falls Family Fishing Day on Saturday, June 8th, from 9 am to noon at Wadsworth Pond Park in Great Falls.
This event is the biggest fishing clinic in the state and offers educational stations on fish identification, knot tying, casting, and fly tying. After the educational sessions, everyone is welcome to enjoy open fishing. Kids who participate in all the education stations can receive a free rod/reel fishing outfit donated by the Great Falls Chapter of Walleyes Unlimited (limited supplies).
After the event, both youth and adults can continue fishing at the pond until sunset without needing a fishing license, thanks to a special educational license exemption provided by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks.
Family Fishing Day is a collaborative effort by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, along with support from Montana Walleyes Unlimited, Montana Trout Unlimited, Sun River Watershed Group, City of Great Falls Parks and Recreation Department, and Republic Services of Great Falls, to teach basic fishing skills and encourage community participation in outdoor activities.
The event may be canceled or scaled back in the event of inclement weather. For more information, contact the Great Falls FWP Region 4 Office at 406-454-5840.
