Lewis and Clark County announced the closure of the Dearborn River High Bridge on HWY 434 pending an inspection after a tractor trailer that exceeded the load limit traveled on the weight-restricted bridge.
On Thursday, June 13, 2024, a tractor trailer weighing between 35,000 and 40,000 pounds, traveled across High Bridge, and later attempted to cross the bridge over Elk Creek on Lover’s Lane in Augusta, Montana. The High Bridge is weight restricted to seven tons and the Lover’s Lane bridge is restricted to six tons. An investigation of the incident is ongoing and County officials plan to inspect the bridges for structural damage next week. Both bridges will remain closed pending the results.
