Barbara Jean (Osweiler) Francetich, aged 88, of Tracy, passed away May 14 at her home. A celebration of life will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Centerville on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Burial at Sand Coulee Cemetery and a luncheon at the Eagles in Great Falls will follow.
Barb was born in Great Falls on September 30, 1935, to Victor and Ellen Osweiler. She graduated from Centerville High in 1953 and married Alan Francetich on September 11, 1954.
She always had time to listen to visitors, being a coffee house long before Starbucks! She was the original UPS/GPS directing trucks to the right location in the gulch. She loved making “homemade goodies” with her chocolate chip cookies being the crown jewel. Thousands of those cookies were shared with those she knew. Kids flocked to her house each Halloween for a full-size candy bar, and many knew where the candy drawer was when they dropped in.
Barb is survived by her sons, Mick (Whitney), Kerry (Rosalie), and Robb (Trisha); daughter, Becky (John) Whittemore; sister, Vickie (Ken) Sappington; brother-in-law, Harvey Feller; and aunt, Bonnie Francetich Eller. She was the grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She cherished many cousins, nieces, and nephews as well as many “adopted grandchildren.” She leaves behind close friends who supported her since her husband’s passing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alan in 2017; sister, Joanie Feller; brother-in-law, Ron Francetich; and sister-in-law, Joan McGuire.
The family thanks Stillwater Hospice as their support allowed mom to finish as she wished – at home with friends and family.
