Brad Opheim is a skilled carpenter who has been working in this field for most of his life. He started helping build houses when he was about 9 years old and has built many treasured items since then.

Around twenty to twenty-three years ago, Brad’s nephew died in a car accident. His brother asked him if he could build a casket, and Brad agreed to give it a try. After successfully crafting the casket for his nephew, Brad received requests from other people, leading him to shift his primary work to crafting urns and caskets. Each handcrafted item is unique and reasonably priced.

“I’ve done router work,” explained Brad. “And I’ve got a person that does laser engraving so we can put a nice Insignia, name, dates, or whatever you want on there.”

Brad’s sister, Kim Wooden, builds the liners and ships them from Casper Wyoming. “It’s just a simple liner that goes in the bottom of the box,” explained Brad.

Apart from urns and caskets, Brad builds many other items in his shop, including clocks, letter opener knives, cabinetry, shelving, and toy boxes that double as extra seating.

Brad has lived in Montana all his life. He takes pride in getting his lumber from Seeley Lake, and all hardware is US-made as well.
