Electric City Opportunities began through a 15-year journey of employment of Andrew Johnson and his understanding of the importance and critical need for community resources.
Andrew grew up in a small farming community near Twin Falls, Idaho. When he was 14, he was in a car accident that led him to become an incomplete paraplegic and suffered a traumatic brain injury.
After leaving the hospital, he faced numerous challenges and sought help from Vocational Rehabilitation. This is when he began his career in human services, driven by his desire to help others.
Andrew moved to Missoula in 2020 and worked as a job coach for other companies in Missoula and Helena. He later bought a house in Great Falls while continuing to work in Helena however found the distance difficult. Since there wasn’t a place to work in Great Falls helping people in the way that he enjoyed, he decided to start Electric City Opportunities.
“Vocational rehabilitation isn’t one of those things that everybody knows about,” explained Andrew. “And supported employment is even smaller. It’s one of the most impactful things if you’re struggling with a disability that can help you.”
