Thursday, March 21 was a flurry of activity. The science classes spent the morning preparing their experiments to show at the Fourth Annual Curios Minds Science Fair to be held that afternoon.
25 students from MSDB showed their skills to family and staff that afternoon and the event was a success. The experiments ranged from cookies with different sugars to how color affects your brain’s thoughts on taste to whether plastic or wooden boats move faster. The variety of experiments showed the diversity of students included in the fair.
This year was bigger and better than any previous fairs. The students worked on their experiments throughout the school year. In September they needed their ideas, in December the lists of what was needed along with the hypothesis were due. By the end of January it was a weekly testing session of all the experiments.
The winners for the elementary division were:
1st place: Myra – Sticky Egg experiment
2nd place- Mya- Naked Egg experiment
3rd place- Paisley – Lava lamp experiment
The winners of the middle/high school division were:
3rd place- Ayvia- Color and taste experiment
2nd place- Troy- World’s largest Orbeez experiment
1st place- Bridger-Blueberry DNA
Fun was had by all that came and all that participated! Watch for us next spring with another Science Fair! You won’t be disappointed!
