Madeline Stump, commonly known as Madie, was born and brought up in Great Falls, Montana. Her family has a history of boxing, with her grandfather on her father’s side being a boxer, and her uncle on her mother’s side also being a boxer. Two of her male cousins started attending a boxing club, and during a family dinner, they talked about their experiences, which prompted Madie and a couple of her siblings to join them. They all went to the club together and Madie decided to give it a try and has been practicing boxing since then.

She has studied boxing with Electric City Boxing Club in Great Falls for three years now and recently competed in the Silver Gloves competition. She advanced to Regionals in Boise, Idaho in January and then moved on to Nationals in Independence, Missouri from February 1st through the 3rd. Madie is only 14 years old and already achieving great things in her sport. She took first place at the state and regional tournaments which qualified her for the national tournament in Independence, Missouri, where she won the National Silver Gloves Championship.

Susan, Madie’s mother, shared that she took two 14-year-old kids down with her and was extremely proud of them both. They were accompanied by a gentleman named Ezequiel Torres who made it to the nationals but lost out on the first night of a three-night event. The person who defeated him ended up winning the championship. Ezequiel would have secured third place in the nation had he won the match.

Madie is ranked number one in her age and weight in the nation. She is the first female in Great Falls to bring home a national title for boxing. “We have one other female who comes down and trains,” explained Susan. “She does not compete. Madie is our only actual registered female boxer.”

“She’s very quiet and calm,” explained Susan. “She got done with her tournament, that last one when she won the championship, she went and changed her clothes, pulled her hair out, got herself fixed up in the restroom, and took her belt and her medal right out to the car and went and sat back in the crowd like nothing just happened.”

Madie’s parents, Susan and Quentin “Fish” Stump are both coaches at Electric City Boxing Club. They work alongside head coach Todd Foster, coach Billy Wagner, and manager Jamie St. Marks to train a group of boxers, some of whom are as young as eight years old.

Madie is a highly athletic student who participates in a variety of sports at her school, including cross country, track, basketball, volleyball, and travel basketball. According to Susan, Madie is also very diligent about her studies. When they returned from the trip to Missouri, Madie received the student of the month award for January, which was announced during a Pep Assembly.

Madie is grateful for the support she has received from her coaches, family, and friends. She and her mother would like to thank everyone who has helped them along the way.

Madie is thankful for all the coaches and the owner, as she believes that without their support, she would not have made it this far. She is also grateful for the love and support from all her friends and family. She would like to express her heartfelt gratitude to her father, Coach Fish, who has been a constant source of support and inspiration to her. Many of her school friends reached out to her and cheered her on during her recent achievement. They were even able to order the event online and watch it live, which gave her a lot of motivation.
