Great Falls High School recently held their winter sports pep assembly where the principal of the school, Mr. Habel, true to his word, took not just one but four pies in the face. This honor was given for the amazing job the whole school did by raising 2004 pounds of food for the food drive right before the Holidays. The school finally celebrated this victory at the winter pep assembly where the entire school could see Mr. Habel being such a great sport.

“We did it as a Cat / Grizz challenge,” explained Student Council Advisor Jana Mora. “The kids had bins that they put them in for either Cats or Grizz. We raised 2004 pounds in total. The Grizz raised 1060 pounds and the Cats raised 944 pounds. So, kind of like the game, the Grizz won.”

Some teachers held classroom competitions to incentivize students to bring in more food, including extra credit or the ability to retake a test. The advisors of the Student Council brainstormed an idea to encourage students to bring in more food. They finally decided to approach Mr. Habel to ask if he would agree to take a pie in the face as a reward for the students’ hard work. “When it all came down to it, he said we can pick somebody from each class,” explained Jana Mora. “So, he ended up taking four pies to the face, but one was pretty powerful.”

All donated food went to the Great Falls Food Bank which helps stock pantries in all Great Falls Public Schools.

Many thanks go out to everyone for this amazing contribution including Kiona, Dakota, Courtney, and Dylan for the epic pie-throwing moment, Mr. Habel for being such a good sport, all the students and staff who donated food to make a huge difference right before the holidays, and special thanks to the Great Falls High Yearbook staff for the amazing photos.
