Augusta, Mont. – The Augusta Food Drive Committee is working around the clock including sometimes at 3 am getting everything set for the Holidays. “This is a tough year for many people, we’re hoping we get enough stuff for everybody.”

Anyone in the Augusta area who needs anything including toys, food, and clothing, there are no questions asked, these people take care of everyone that they can, and this year they are even trying to deliver to those with difficulties getting to town.

Mikala Taylor is part of the committee this year and has been helping as much as she can while working many hours at the Lazy B. “I have been doing a gun raffle board at the Lazy B,” she explained. “All proceeds go to the food drive.” If you would like to take a chance to win a Savage .22 rifle while assisting the Augusta Food Drive, the tickets are only $6 per square. While you are there, you can drop off some nonperishable food items in the donation box. “Major thank you to all the local community support, the love people show by reaching out and donating.”

As of this time, they are running low on turkeys, desserts, canned fruit, and baby items including baby food, as well as gifts and ideas for teenagers. If these are items you would like to help out with, any help is appreciated.

The gift of giving can even include just your time. If you have a few hours to help out wrapping gifts and putting boxes together, this could be a great way to boost your holiday cheer while helping out and spending time with these great people helping the community. “They can donate their time and wrap some Presents,” explained Ginger. “We have lunch every day. We have coffee, pop, we have water. Whatever they want. And we provide all the wrapping.”

The Augusta Food Bank will be in the basement of the museum building from 10 am to 5 pm and will continue until December 13th. If you would like to help in any way, contact this year’s committee which includes Ginger Evans (406) 422-8644, Tammy Delwo (406) 562-3344, Mikala Taylor (406) 235-0684, and Nancy Utter (406) 590-7181.
