Malmstrom AFB, Mont. – Malmstrom Air Force Base is hosting a Native American Heritage Celebration on Tuesday, November 21 at 5 p.m. in the Grizzly Bend Club. You are invited and encouraged to attend, to highlight the evening’s events in honor of the diverse and rich Native American culture found in Montana and throughout North America.

If you are interested in attending, please provide a response NLT 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16. so I can arrange to meet and/or escort your team on base, as applicable.

There will be traditional singing, special observances and guest speakers from the local Native American community including the Indian Family Health Clinic, Helena Indian Alliance, Big Sky Missing and Murdered Indigenous People, family of a WWII Navajo Code Talker, Fire Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park and more.

The Department of the Air Force celebrates National American Indian Heritage Month every November to celebrate the rich culture and talent brought to the Air and Space Forces by our service members and employees who identify as Indigenous people of our nation. With over 574 federally recognized tribes, there are hundreds of different cultures that are as unique as the people they represent. As stated in the National Security Strategy, “pluralism, inclusion, and diversity are a source of national strength in a rapidly changing world.” Ensuring a diverse force that is enabled to thrive is part of building enduring advantages for the future Joint Force.

The event is organized by Senior Airman Connor Crawn, a convoy team leader with the 341st Missile Security Operations Squadron who champions for Native American representation in uniform.
