Augusta, Mont. – The Augusta food drive is once again underway. This year the committee will be in the basement of the museum building starting Monday, November 13th, until December 13th from 10 am to 5 pm. They will be closed on Thanksgiving Day but open every other day with a sign next to the museum.

The Augusta Food Drive was started in Sun River in 1994 and has been going every year since then. They work closely with the Senior Citizen food bank but are a separate entity. They accept food donations as well as new and gently used clothing and toys. “We won’t turn anything away if it’s something that we can’t use and they want to give it away and we can’t use it, we take it to the thrift store. We earn the money ourselves, all year long, and any money that we get, we put towards the food drive.”

Anyone in the Augusta area who needs anything including, toys, food, and clothing, there are no questions asked, these people take care of everyone that they can. They also have access to the Salvation Army, and the Catholic Charities, so if you need a refrigerator or a washer and dryer, they will do their best to get that for you. “This is a tough year for many people, we’re hoping we get enough stuff for everybody.”

If you are in need or know someone in need, let these people know any sizes and toys and whatever is requested, and they will do their best to take care of it. Whether it’s a man working outside who needs boots or someone who needs blankets, they do their best to include everyone. This year they are also trying to deliver to those with difficulties getting to town.

The Committee is always looking for volunteers to wrap presents and everything, so if you want to pitch in by just donating time, that is much appreciated as well.

As many say, “It takes a village” and this village tends to come together. If you would like to help in any way, contact this year’s committee which includes Ginger Evans (406) 422-8644, Tammy Delwo (406) 562-3344, Mikala Taylor (406) 235-0684, and Nancy Utter (406) 590-7181.
