Fall Art Classes Begin October 9th
Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art (The Square) will once again host a variety of art classes for all ages and abilities beginning October 9th. The Square offers art classes on a quarterly basis that are taught by local and visiting professional artists. Mediums and modalities taught include ceramics, painting, drawing, Pre-K art, textiles, color theory, printmaking, and more.
The Square’s youth programming is built for pre-K through 12th Grade, while most adult classes are designed for ages 18 or 21+, in addition to multigenerational classes and weekend workshops. Through a variety of grants, contracts, and other sponsored funding, the department can support a diverse range of educational programming for individuals of varying demographics.
The Square’s Education Department offers a series of free programs under the umbrella of “Love for the Arts.” These programs include a free weekly Senior Art Class for artists of any ability over 60 years of age; a bi-weekly Veteran Arts program; a free weekly art class for at-risk teens called Curative Art Collective; art classes for adults with disabilities in partnership with Easterseals-Goodwill; and sign language interpretation for deaf and hard of hearing students, by appointment.
The Veteran Arts program is open to any Veterans in Great Falls and surrounding areas. Instructors specializing in their trained media lead classes each month, allowing participants to explore many different art mediums throughout. The Veteran Arts program is free, and all participants are required to register for each class by calling the museum or registering online.
The Square and Great Falls Vet Center have partnered to provide local Veterans a space for healthy creative expression through multiple art forms, for free. This project is funded in part by the Montana Arts Council, an agency of the State Government, and by the National Endowment for the Arts.
The public is invited to register for paid or free classes each quarter. Partial or full scholarships may be available through The Square’s Roberta Cooney Memorial Fund. Those interested in art education at The Square can visit www.the-square.org/education to learn more, apply for scholarships, and register for classes and programs. Ellie Weber, Director of Education, can be reached at ellie@the-square.org or by calling the museum at 406.727.8255.
