Great Falls Area State Parks Host Summer Events

Photo credit Foxy's Photography Throughout August, two state parks near Great Falls are hosting a variety of summer events, including guided evening hikes, trivia competitions, and interpretive talks. At Giant Springs State Park, families can participate in a weekly trivia night every Tuesday until August 26. Teams of seven or fewer can enjoy a friendly competition held in the park's grassy area, adjacent to the fish hatchery, with prizes for the top three teams. Participants are encouraged to bring a lawn chair, food, and drinks, and should arrive before 7 p.m. to register, as pre-registration is not required. Just a short drive away, First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park offers unique experiences as well. With its beautiful location just north of Ulm, visitors can attend “Jump Talks” every Saturday through August 30, featuring informative discussions about the park's history and its significance to the First Peoples. These free talks begin at 1 p.m. and last about 30 minutes, weather permitting. Additionally, on August 8, the park will host a guided three-mile evening hike in celebration of the Sturgeon Moon. This ranger-led hike, which costs $4 per person, offers participants a chance to enjoy breathtaking views of the moon and night sky from the buffalo jump. It will be limited to 25 participants, so early registration is recommended by calling (406) 866-2217.
