Lewis and Clark County Proclaims 2024 Operation Green Light in Support of Local Veterans

In advance Veterans Day holiday, Lewis and Clark County Board of Commissioners will illuminate county buildings green from November 4, 2024 through November 11, 2024 in participation with Operation Green Light, a national initiative to support military veterans by raising awareness of the challenges many veterans face and the resources that are available at the county, state, and federal level to assist veterans and their families. “Operation Green Light is an opportunity to show our support for the more than 7,000 veterans living in Lewis and Clark County,” said County Commissioner Andy Hunthausen, Board Chair. “We thank them for their service to our nation and for the sacrifices they and their families have made.” In addition to lighting county buildings, Lewis and Clark County encourages residents and businesses to participate by simply changing one light bulb in their house to a green bulb. This can be an exterior light that neighbors and passersby see, or an interior light that sparks a conversation with friends. By shining a green light, we let our veterans know that they are seen, appreciated, and supported, especially as they transition into civilian life after completing their service. Now in its third year, Operation Green Light is spearheaded by National Association of Counties and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers, building upon successful efforts by the New York State Association of Counties and the New York State County Veteran Service Officers’ Association in 2021. In 2023, over 300 counties participated in Operation Green Light. Counties and residents across the country may share their participation on social media using the hashtag #OperationGreenLight.
