Wenatchee Defeats Great Falls to Clinch Playoff Berth

The Great Falls Electric (10-10) put the fans on the edge of their seat as the home team almost pulled off the much needed victory to send them to the playoffs. In the end, the Wenatchee Bighorns (11-9) picked up their second road victory of the weekend to send them to the postseason by edging Great Falls, 91-89. In his final performance of the season, Kareem Jamar made the most of it by accumulating 32 points on 13-for-17 shooting and also making four of his six three point attempts. Lyle Hexom, the Omaha, Nebraska native, played 45 minutes and fiinshed with 20 points on 9-for-10 shooting. Antwaan Cushingberry and Sahmi Willoughsby also scored in double digits for Great Falls. The pair each contributed 14 points each with Willoughsby pulling down seven rebounds. The final two minutes was filled with excitement at the CMR Fieldhouse on Saturday night for the regular season finale. Great Falls’ Kareem Jamar pulled Great Falls to within one point (85-86). After a basket and a free throw by Wenatchee’s Missi Boye Jeanneau-Mubiala (89-85), Kareem Jamar connected on two back-to-back field goals to even the score at 89-89 with 17 seconds remaining. Tremont Robinson White from the Bighorns was not going to let the Bighorns participate in an overtime as he went down the other way and knocked down a field goal with one second remaining. After a timeout by the Electric, the Electric attempted a shot that bounced off the rim twice before falling to the ground. Missi Boye Jeanneau-Mubiala ensured the Bighorns tenth win and a playoff berth by recording 29 points (10-for-10 from the field) and connected on all five of his baskets from long distance in 32 minutes. The visitors from Washington state had 14 points each coming from Troy Mix, Jr., Tremont Robinson White and Chris Cromartie. On Friday night at Charles Marion Russell High School, the Bighorns topped the Electric, 104-97 behind a 37 point effort from Tremont Robinson White. Great Falls played five teams that make up the Pacific Northwest Divsion of the TBL’s West Conference this season. They faced two squads from Oregon including the Emerald City (Eugene, OR) Jaguars (4-0 record) and the Salem (OR) Capitals (2-2), and three teams from Washington state. They played the Seattle Super Hawks (3-1), the Vancouver Volcaonoes (1-3) and lost all four games to the Wenatchee Bighorns (0-4) to finish with a 10-10 record. NEXT CONTEST: With Saturday’s loss, the Great Falls Electric inaugural 2024 season comes to an end. Great Falls finished their 20-game season with ten victories. NOTES: The Wenatchee Bighorns will now advance to the 2024 TBL Playoffs with two weekend wins over Great Falls. The TBL Playoff schedule will be released this week. As the season commences, Great Falls team leaders included Kareem Jamar (23.1 points per game) an Antwaan Cushingberry (22.7), Lyle Hexom led the first-year Electric team by averaging 9.9 rebounds per game and the assist leader was Antwaan Cushingberry with seven assists per game for head coach Johnny Clark.
