The Electric Tops Emerald City, 106-94 for Their Sixth Win; Emerald City Remains Winless

The Great Falls Electric (6-6) trailed the Emerald City (OR) Jaguars (0-13), 56-48 at halftime but utilized a big offensive effort in the final two quarters to pull out a 106-94 victory at the Titan Coliseum on the campus of Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon on Thursday night. The win gave them their sixth victory in 12 contests. Great Falls, playing the first of three contests on the road this weekend, were led by Antwaan Cushingberry, the team’s leading scorer after twelve regular season games in The Basketball League (TBL) with 28 points while connecting on 50% of his field goal attempts. The Indiana native also had the most rebounds (10) and assists (7) for the Electric. Teammate Lyle Hexom scored 22 points and had eight rebounds. Kevin Fletcher was one of four players on the Jaguars to finish in double figures. He finished with 19 points while Jon Walker had 18, Jamal Logan 14 and Brandon Suttles ended the night with 12. Four different Emerald City players scored during the first three minutes as the host team led 9-0 before Great Falls was able to get on the scoreboard when Brandon Jamar connected on a pair of free throws. The Electric, coached by Johnny Clark, came within four points (28-24) by the start of the second quarter. Brandon Suttles buried a three pointer 67 seconds into the second quarter to increase the lead for the Jaguars, 31-24. Andrew Whitsett, one of two new players for Great Falls this week (along with Broc Finstuen, scored two of his 16 points in his debut to close the gap (33-27) with 9:41 remaining. Both teams scored double their point total from the first quarter for a 56-48 advantage for the Jaguars when the quarter concluded. Great Falls fell behind by as many as eight points (58-50) in the third before Great Falls clawed their way back and took their first lead (69-68) on a bucket by Lamine Komara with five minutes remaining. The visitors from Montana led by as many as ten points. The third quarter closed with Great Falls leading 83-75. The Montana TBL team outscored Oregon, 23-19 in the fourth to keep Emerald City from capturing their first win of the season. Great Falls has now won all four contests against Emerald City this season with a pair coming in front of the home crowd at Swarthout Fieldhouse at Great Falls High School during the first weekend of April 2024. The Electric won their first game in the TBL on March 15th by posting a 122-89 win in Oregon followed by two victories in Montana (97-87 and 104-97) on April 5th and 6th. NEXT CONTEST: Great Falls stays in Oregon for a Friday primetime game against the Salem Capitals, who defeated the Electric by 13 points (113-100) on March 16th. The action from the Salem Armory Auditorium tips off at 8:30PM (MST). Great Falls will end their three games in three days road trip with a visit to Vancouver, Washington on Saturday night (April 27th) against the top-ranked Vancouver Volcanoes, who are now 3-0 against the Electric this season. That matchup starts at 8:00PM (MST) live from Hudson Bay High School.
