Electric Earn Weekend Split in Washington Falling 98-82 to the Wenatchee Bighorns on Saturday

After the Great Falls Electric (5-4) forced a come-from-behind win (110-108) on Friday evening in Seattle, Washington against the Super Hawks, the Electric traveled to Chelan, Washington, about 40 miles from Wenatchee, Washington, to challenge the Wenatchee Bighorns on Saturday evening. To recap Friday’s action in The Basketball League (TBL) , Great Falls led 5-3 before losing the lead until the final minute when the Electric took the lead back and picked up the 110-108 road victory over the Seattle Super Hawks. Antwaan Cushingberry (26 points), Lyle Hexom (23 points) and Lamine Komara (23 points) led the visiting Montana team. Great Falls is 2-3 on the road and 3-1 inside Great Falls High’s Swarthout Fieldhouse. The Wenatchee Bighorns (3-5) hosted the Salem (OR) Capitals (6-4) on Friday in Chelan, Washington and sent the Capitals home with their third loss (125-98). Tremont Robinson-White led the way for Wenatchee with 36 markers and KiyJohnte Houston had 25 points to lead head coach JP Davis’s squad. Psalm Maduakor and Davonte Clevland each poured in 18 points for the Oregon squad. The Bighorns and Capitals each have won one head-to-head meeting this season. Great Falls and Wenatchee had never met on the court prior to this contest. The Great Falls Electric fell to the Wenatchee (WA) Bighorns, 98-82 on Saturday in Chelan, Washington but still finished the weekend with a split by edging the Seattle Super Hawks on Friday. The Bighorns led 52-47 at the half and defeated the Electric by 16 points. Tremont Robinson White led both teams in scoring with 38. Great Falls’ Lamine Komara led his team with 24. The Bighorns offense started the first quarter on a 7-0 run with baskets by Tremont Robinson White, KiyJohnte Houston, and Missi Jeanneau-Mubiala during the opening minute of the TBL contest. Great Falls’ Antwaan Cushingberry got into the scoring column for the Electric with a long-distance trey to cut the deficit to 7-3. The Bighorns led 30-22 after the first twelve minutes. Robinson White scored 14 points for Wenatchee while Antwaan Cushingberry and Lamine Komara paced the Electric with 7 points and 6 points, respectively. Great Falls kept Wenatchee in check and tied the contest (37-37) on a layup by Brandon Jamar with 6:19 left in the second quarter. Jacob Bates, a forward from LaGrange, Kentucky, came off the bench for the Electric and gave Great Falls their first lead with 2:14 remaining on a shot behind the arc. Omari Joseph and Tremont Robison White combined for the final six points to stretch the score to 52-47 at halftime. KiyJohnte Houston (Wenatchee) and Lamine Komara (Great Falls) traded baskets for their respective clubs during the first two minutes of the third frame. Late in the stanza, Antwaan Cushingberry had the visiting team trailing by one (69-68) but a score by Rodarious Washington with under a minute left kept the home ahead, 71-68. The Electric outscored Wenatchee 21-19 in the third with Lamine Komara scoring 12 points while KiyJohnte Houste had nine points in the quarter for the Bighorns. Wenatchee’s offense outplayed Great Falls in the fourth as they opened on a 10-3 run and never looked back in the 16-point victory to complete the weekend sweep at home. Great Falls finished the weekend by earning the Friday win against the Super Hawks and Saturday’s setback with the Bighorns. Despite not scoring in the third quarter, Tremont Robinson White ended his 38 minutes of action with 29 points and 14 boards (including 11 on the defensive side) for the Bighorns. He also recorded five blocks and one steal. Lamine Komara was the only Great Falls player to have over 20 points as the Columbus, Ohio standout had 24. Teammate Antwaan Cushingberry gathered seven of his 19 points in the first quarter. Lyle Hexom had a quiet night by his standards but still managed to gather 13 points and 12 rebounds for head coach Johnny Clark’s squad.
