The Treasure State Doll Club and the Russell Doll Club will be handing out free dolls to children up to age 12 on June 8th from 10 am to 1 pm. They will be on the first floor of the Library to celebrate World Doll Day which is on June 10th. The United Federation of Doll Clubs Inc. celebrates its 75th anniversary on July 23-27 with a convention in Kansas City, Mo.

Kids who receive a doll will also be encouraged to name the doll with a “birth certificate” and take an oath to forever protect their new treasure. All dolls handed out have been collected by the two local doll clubs and this program is free and open to all.

Children who receive a doll are encouraged to reach out to the UFDC and tell them about the doll they’ve received, or how they’ve celebrated in the past. On their website it states, “We ask children to gather together any photos, videos, voice recordings, and a short written description of your doll or how you’ve celebrated World Doll Day and send it to us! Once you’ve prepared your story, send an email to Christine Faust cfaust628@gmail.com and be sure to attach your photos, video, recordings, and a short description! We’ll feature your stories and dolls on this World Doll Day page, DOLL NEWS magazine, and UFDC Facebook page! Be sure to check out what other members have to say about World Doll Day in the past!

The very first World Doll Day was created by Mildred Seeley and was first celebrated in 1986. For more information, contact Linda Oalias at greeneyedfin@gmail.com.
