Brad Orsted to Discuss His Book About His Recovery and Show His Short Film

After the tragic death of his daughter Marley, Brad Orsted, "descended in a looping hell of madness, guilt, grief and addiction," he later explained. It got so bad that he wandered into the Montana wilderness to die. Little did he know that a chance encounter with a grizzly bear would not only change his outset, it'd also be the start of his recovery from alcohol/drug addiction. Orsted comes to the Great Falls Public Library's Cordingley Room on April 2nd at 6:30 pm to talk about his book Through the Wilderness, and his film that came after that experience, The Beast of Our Time: Grizzly Bears and Climate Change, narrated by acclaimed actor Jeff Bridges. He will show the film during the event, as well, and discuss how making the movie and writing the book helped him heal. Cassiopeia Books will have Brad's book for sale after the event.Orsted is an award-winning wildlife and conservation filmmaker/photographer, author, speaker and wilderness therapy instructor. His work has appeared on Nat Geo Wild, The BBC, PBS, Nature, The Washington Post and Smithsonian Channel. The Beast of Our Time: Grizzly Bears and Climate Change also recently won Best Environmental Film Award at the Los Angeles Film Festival.Brad recently started a podcast titled "Take It Outside" available on Spotify or Brad's website. He's also starting what he calls a "Wellness Workshop" that's, "A Nature-Based Approach to Healing." That workshop will be open to anyone seeking relief from trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, stress, apathy, and those in need of aftercare or a wild reset.
