Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art (The Square) invites the public to its Chefs, Champagne, & Art Fundraiser (CCA) and chef competition on Friday, February 2nd at The Newberry in Great Falls.
Chefs, Champagne, & Art features five local chefs going head-to-head to create hors d’oeuvres and desserts inspired by artwork from The Square’s permanent art collection. “The event started 8 years ago and has continued due to its popularity. The Square wanted to create a fun event combining local cuisine from popular restaurants to highlight their chefs and pair them with art for a full creative experience for Great Falls,” said Sarah Justice, Executive Director of The Square.
The competing chefs are asked to think about the full presentation of their food and serving stations. “Cuisine is an art form in itself, but pairing the chef with a work of visual art from The Square’s permanent collection can get their creative juices flowing. The chefs really enjoy the challenge for their table display and artful cuisine,” said Justice.
This year’s competing chefs include Chef Steve Gray of 5th & Wine; Chef Andrew Brown of Magpie; Chef Julie Curtis of NOSH MT Catering; Chefs from Kellergeist Pub Theatre; and Chef Sarah Thomas of Thomas Cuisine at Benefis. Guest judges include Chef Eric Roach of The Ivy at Great Falls; Chef Rachael Hedeen of Ranches at Belt Creek; Chef Greg Rodgers of The Celtic Cowboy; and Chef Jim Duehlmeier of Meadow Lark Country Club.
“The chefs generously donate all their food for this event and also donate items to the silent auction,” said Sarah Justice. “The Judges donate their time and expertise as past competing chefs to decide the winners of the evening including, Judges Choice, Best Dessert, Best Use of Champagne, and Best Table Display. We are also grateful for the local businesses that donate to our silent auction.”
