
On Friday, January 9th, the Cascade County Sheriff’s Office announced a suspicious death in the 1700 block of 22nd Avenue South, just outside the Great Falls city limits. This case has now been confirmed as a homicide.
The victim has been identified as Terrell Johnson, a 25-year-old male from Harlem, Montana. Investigators are seeking assistance in locating and tracking the movements of the victim’s vehicle, a red 2014 Chevrolet Cruze.
Detectives are asking the public to report any sightings of the vehicle and any surveillance videos showing the vehicle or its occupants. They are particularly interested in information or video footage from Wednesday, January 7, through Friday, January 9, around noon.
Detectives have learned that the victim was known to frequent bars in downtown Great Falls. Any information related to the victim’s movements, associations, or vehicle during this time frame may prove helpful.
Sheriff Slaughter stated that at this time, no suspect has been apprehended. Multiple leads are being actively pursued, and due to the ongoing investigation, no further details can be released.

The Cascade County Sheriff’s Office released an update on the ongoing homicide investigation from Friday, January 9th, in the 1700 block of 22nd Avenue South in Great Falls. Currently, the CCSO is actively seeking a suspect believed to be involved in this crime.
Based on information gathered during the investigation, detectives are searching for a male individual who was on foot in the area of 18th Street South to 5th Street South, and 10th Avenue South to 22nd Avenue South.
The timeframe of interest is the morning of January 9th, 2026, between approximately 5:55 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. Detectives believe this individual may pose a potential threat to community safety.
The CCSO is asking for the public’s assistance.
