On August 21, 2024, detectives from the Great Falls Police Department assisted the Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s Office in executing an arrest warrant for Michael Jarrett, a resident of Great Falls. Mr. Jarrett was taken into custody on two felony counts of sexual intercourse without consent. The alleged offenses reportedly occurred several years prior in Lewis and Clark County, when the victim was a juvenile.

Following his arrest, Mr. Jarrett was remanded to the Cascade County Adult Detention Center. According to reports, at the time of the arrest, he was employed as a teacher at North Middle School and had been involved in coaching various sports, including basketball, football, and wrestling.

Great Falls Public Schools announced at the time of Mr. Jarrett’s arrest that, upon becoming aware of the allegations, Mr. Jarrett was placed on administrative leave, thereby ensuring that he would have no access to or involvement with district premises, property, staff, or students.

A jury in state district court subsequently found Mr. Michael Walter Jarrett guilty of felony sexual intercourse without consent with a child under the age of 12 and felony sexual assault of a child under the age of 16. According to reports, the criminal acts occurred years earlier in Lewis and Clark County and did not involve any students who attended North Middle School.

A sentencing hearing for Mr. Jarrett is scheduled to take place on January 15, 2026, before Judge Mike Menehan.
