The Library is excited to welcome Joann Howeth to talk about her works in the Cordingley Room on Thursday, June 19 starting at 6:30 pm.
Born in Conrad, Joann is a Children’s Book author. She has lived in Montana most of her life. She started her writing journey with the Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) serving as both Assistant Regional Advisor and Regional Advisor for the Montana Chapter, where she met other writers, participated in critique groups, and kept writing. Eventually, she started querying agents, but that began to resemble running on a hamster wheel, so in 2022 she took the plunge and found the hybrid publisher, Cherish Editions located in the UK, for her debut picture book, Sometimes. Her second book, The Mollys B is also a hybrid published here in the US by Blue Balloon Books.
In Sometimes, Howeth reminds us of what can happen behind closed doors and, in doing so, encourages kids to tell their own stories to ensure they get the support they need. A must-have for every library, classroom, and therapist’s office, this book will reassure struggling children that they are not alone and help them find a safe and healthy outlet for their troubles.
The Mollys B, meanwhile, is about the two Mollys—one a renowned survivor of the sinking of the RMS Titanic, the other a determined heifer with an indomitable spirit. Living a century apart, they share more than just a name; their deeper bond is a legacy of courage. The Mollys B., a beautifully illustrated biography, brings their parallel stories to life, exploring the extraordinary day each met life-threatening challenges with remarkable bravery. From the icy waters of the Atlantic to the open fields of Montana, this book is a powerful celebration of resilience, hope, and the unyielding will to survive. Join the journey and discover how two lives, though different, are forever united by an unwavering determination that can light the way through even the darkest moments.
