Benefis Health System Named to Top 150 Places to Work in Healthcare for Second Year in a Row

The list highlights hospitals, health systems, and healthcare companies that “go above and beyond to foster outstanding workplace culture” and commit to supporting their teams. Benefis was the only Montana health system included. This year, Benefis was highlighted for maintaining a no-layoff policy and providing annual pay increases to its 3,400+ employees for 21 consecutive years, as well as its benefits, culture, and opportunities for career development. “At Benefis, we know that living up to our vision of being the best health system in Montana is a task as large as our vast geographic service area,” said Casey Buckingham, system senior vice president and chief Human Resources officer. “But we also know that when we care for our employees, we help them care for the people who call central Montana home.” Benefis has high employee satisfaction and a workforce with a reciprocal commitment to Benefis and to our patients, Buckingham said. The culture also helps make our case recruiting during this nationwide workforce shortage, she added. Benefis employees reported in a recent survey a strong sense of mission and trust in each other. Harly Lee, RN, had no idea all that Benefis would come to mean for her through career development, connections with the world, and emotional and financial support when her husband, a police officer, was shot in the line of duty. “Benefis is an organization that doesn’t only band around patients for their care but also around employees,” she said. “I have been on the receiving and giving side of this, and truly this is what allows me to continue to work here.” Becker’s highlighted the kindness and generosity of Benefis employees toward each other, patients, and the community. In 2024, Benefis employees raised nearly $500,000 through Benefis Foundation’s annual employee giving campaign. Becker’s also recognized Benefis as a top place to work in healthcare from 2014 to 2019 and in 2024.
