4 the Kids Montana is a local non-profit organization committed to addressing the issues of abuse and neglect in North-Central Montana. The organization’s mission focuses on supporting foster children in the community by providing both a week-long summer camp and monthly mentorship opportunities.
Currently, 4 the Kids Montana is engaged in recruitment efforts and fundraising initiatives for its upcoming summer camp, which marks its eighth season in Great Falls. The program is structured around a national curriculum that was identified as a significant need for the community by the director after she viewed a movie on the subject. Cascade County is ranked second in the state for both the utilization and demand for care among foster children.
The summer program is designed as an exclusive, week-long camp tailored for foster children. This faith-based initiative relies on the involvement of over 75 dedicated volunteers, ranging in age from 16 to 82, who will provide care and supervision for approximately 40 participants. Activities planned for the camp include swimming, talent shows, woodworking, and various other engaging endeavors.
A notable feature of the program is the group-wide birthday celebration scheduled for Wednesday, where all participating children will have the opportunity to celebrate together. Each child will receive a gift package that includes a new pair of shoes, a new outfit, a book, a toy, candy, and a personalized 7-inch birthday cake. This festive occasion will also feature four bounce houses and numerous enjoyable activities.
The funding for this program is entirely derived from donations and grants, as the organization does not receive any state funding.
