Kaela Horne currently operates two locations of Willow Grove Grooming. Given the growing community needs, she decided to add to her Cascade establishment and open in Great Falls as well.
The Great Falls location opened at 1117 7th Street South, on January 1st, where she shares a facility with another dog grooming business. The Cascade location can be found at 201 3rd Street South.
Initially, Kaela aspired to become a biologist but faced employment challenges. “I had just moved, and I didn’t have a job,” explained Kaela. “My sister said her dog groomer needs a bather right now. I already really liked animals, and I would love to turn this into a career.”
Many individuals interested in dog grooming opt to attend specialized academies, others like Kaela acquire their skills through direct, practical experience working side by side with another groomer.
Kaela possesses eight years of experience within the grooming industry. The first two began as a bather, and six of them have been dedicated to grooming.
Currently, she specializes exclusively in dog grooming, although she aspires to include cat grooming services in the future. Cat grooming is less commonly offered, and while she can perform cat nail trims, actual grooming presents distinct challenges related to their unique skin and temperament.
Kaela’s philosophy regarding grooming emphasizes quality over quantity. “I’m a little bit slower than some groomers,” she explained. “But I really like to focus on the owners being comfortable that they are dropping off their dog with someone who is going to care for their dog as much as they do. If that means I need to slow down and take it at the dog’s pace, I will slow down and take it at the dog’s pace.”
Kaela enjoys accessorizing the dogs with charming bandanas and bows once their grooming session is complete and consistently maintains a selection in stock.
