Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art (The Square) will once again host a variety of art classes for all ages and abilities beginning early September, with most classes running October through November. The Square offers art classes on a quarterly basis that are taught by local and visiting professional artists. Mediums taught include ceramics/pottery, figure and portrait drawing, Pre-K art, fiber art, oil painting, etching, block printing, and more.

The Square’s adult classes are offered at a variety of skill levels, while youth programming is built for pre-K through 12th Grade. Some of the new classes and workshops offered this Fall include: a needle-felted wool pumpkin workshop; a ceramic press mold workshop; a clothed figure drawing workshop; a “creative characters” watercolor workshop; a beginning oil painting class; an intro to linocut block printing workshop; and more. Returning this Fall are pottery classes for youth and adults, printmaking, classes tailored for homeschool students, and art for pre-K children.

The Square’s Education Department offers a series of free programs including a free weekly Senior Art Class for artists of any ability over 60 years of age; a bi-weekly Veteran Arts program; a free weekly art class for teens called Curative Art Collective; and art classes for adults with disabilities in partnership with Easterseals-Goodwill.

The Veteran Arts program is open to any Veterans in Great Falls and surrounding areas. Instructors specializing in their trained media lead classes each month, allowing participants to explore many different art mediums throughout. The Veteran Arts program is free, and all participants are required to register for each class by calling the museum or registering online.

The public is invited to register for paid or free classes each quarter. Partial or full scholarships may be available through The Square’s Roberta Cooney Memorial Fund. Those interested in art education at The Square can visit www.the-square.org/education to learn more, apply for scholarships, and register for classes and programs. Liz Metzger, Education Director, can be reached at liz@the-square.org or by calling the museum at 406.727.8255.
